As part of Group Elephant, we follow a unique model that goes beyond traditional corporate purpose by directly funding and operating initiatives that protect endangered species and uplift rural communities.
Through our non-profit initiative, Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP), we channel 1% of global revenue into real-world conservation and community impact efforts across Southern Africa.
This hybrid model, recognised by two UC Berkeley Haas School of Business case studies, is not about charity. It’s about applying business principles to solve critical social and environmental challenges in a sustainable way.
ERP works at the intersection of wildlife protection and community upliftment, with the understanding that long-term conservation is only possible when the people living closest to threatened animals are empowered, supported, and included in the solution.
We focus on three core areas:
ERP supports rescue operations, habitat protection, anti-poaching initiatives, and scientific research to help secure a future for this iconic species.
ERP funds and manages on-the-ground rhino protection programs — from relocations and security to community-driven education and awareness campaigns.
We partner with rural communities near conservation areas to break the poverty-poaching cycle by creating lasting income and opportunity.

Since 2021, this project near Madikwe protects rhino and elephant habitat while creating economic opportunity for the Barokologadi community.
Providing food, clothing, and essentials to over 400 orphans monthly in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Providing tactical support in times of ecological crisis, including moving elephants to safer habitats and delivering emergency water access to affected areas.
ERP is built with business discipline, but driven by purpose. By combining direct funding with deep local partnerships, the initiative creates practical, sustainable solutions that benefit wildlife and people alike.
